Dear Fellow Internet Entrepreneur,
I'm not sure if you've heard about this or not, but there's this new TV show now called "Reversal of Fortune". The show asks a man if they can follow him around with a camera to do a documentary on homeless people. He has no idea what is about to happen...
It starts off just as you'd expect - documenting about a week or so in this man's life. "A day in the life", if you will. It's very sad. Living under a bridge... Finding bottles to recycle... Getting ecstatic over $16 in earnings for today...
(Yikes - I bet some Internet Marketers can relate to that last statement!)
Okay, so now they put a briefcase with $100,000 cash in a dumpster that the man checks every day, knowing for certain he'll find it. Of course, when looking through the dumpster for food, the man finds the briefcase...
A bit perplexed, he opens it and sees the money inside -- and a note...
"What Would A Homeless Man Do If He Was Given $100,000?"
Now keep in mind, the people filming him never say a word to him. Like many of us would do, the man cries. He just sits there in the dumpster and cries... For a good 20 minutes.
Afterwards, the man finally regains his composure, climbs out of the dumpster, turns in his cans at the recycler to finish out his day, and thus begins his journey with his new found fortune.
He opens a bank account... Gets a drivers license... Buys a truck... Even moves home to where his family lives and puts down first and last month's rent on an apartment. Again, these are things that most of us might do, right?
Well, here's what happens next.
After just 4 weeks he spends over half of the money leaving him with just $40,000.
He still has no job...
Of course, his family tries to tell him he needs one. But he ignores them.
And now, after 6 months.... (you may not want to read the next line)
He has less than $5,000 to his name.
Six months!!! Still no job and less than $5,000 to his name!
Thankfully, the show ends here. I'm guessing it's because NO ONE could bear to see what was going to happen to him next. It's just plain sad isn't it?
Now, what I didn't tell you was that the show even gave him a professional to work with that deals with helping homeless people back into society. They offered him FREE professional financial planning. And he even had SEVERAL good paying construction job offers.
And yet, I'll bet he's probably back under that bridge today.
He was given everything he needed (more than most of us have ever been given -- $100,000 cash, guaranteed income, and FREE professional advice!). So, what happened???
He'd become so accustomed to living the life of a homeless man that even though he had plenty of resources to change his life, he just couldn't. His brain couldn't handle the fact that he didn't have to be homeless anymore.
Now think about it in relation to online businesses. Most internet entrepreneurs have probably never tasted success before. So, how in the world are they going to know what to do with all the incredible resources available to them everyday?
To become a successful entrepreneur, you have to change your mindset, just like our homeless friend should have done.
As an internet entrepreneur, you can be given everything - great information on how to succeed, step by step guides on how to make money online, even the money to get started...
But if you don't change your mindset and learn the underlying principles of running your own business you will likely fail!
It's no wonder that the FAILURE rate
